Hong Leong Foundation had participated in the interactive community project called the CSR Thumbprint Art Project as the funder which has been endorsed by the GuocoLand (Malaysia) Berhad (GLM) and Sofitel with an active involvement of the NN Gallery as a mandatory management of the whole project.. The Foundation believe that everyone has their dream, identity, and it will bring a little change to their stories which art project like this would be significantly beneficial for the sides involves. Objectively, this CSR project was basically to provide a platform and opportunity for the beneficiaries to be involved with the corporate community.

The CSR feature artwork is specially designed and commissioned, thus the image will be fine-tuned during the execution process from initial to final stage of completion. Transforming the beauty of Malaysian nature and fingerprints taken from the beneficiaries into an abstract art form to relay the message that good memories are built together with collective participation from beneficiaries (5 Homes), Hong Leong Foundation, GuocoLand (Malaysia) Bhd, SOFITEL, and Hong Leong MSIG Takaful.

Hong Leong Foundation made a donation of RM5,000 to each homes and the funds will go towards improving the homes’ educational resources and facilities. Hong Leong MSIG also involved in sponsoring the Personal Accident Policies for the 5 beneficiaries homes involved since the children will be transported from their homes to Damansara City and back toothier homes on the same day. Fingerprints were the main component of this art project where it involves 5 orphanage homes all around Klang Valley, namely:

  • Lighthouse Children Welfare Home
  • Pusat Jagaan Rumah Kesayangan (RUKESA)
  • Home of Peace
  • Ozanam Edu Centre
  • Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary, KL

NN Gallery was in charged of scheduling the mini workshops to home visits. During the mini workshops at each home, few activities had been carried out such as collection of thumb print, dancing and story-telling. The kids from the homes will need to complete some artwork which will then turned into a bookmark based on the stories told using their creativity and imagination. The art project is to create a positive loving environment and allows an interactive social engagement between the community and children of selected homes to create an original piece of artwork that reflects the cultural identity of the Damansara Heights neighbourhood.

On the finale of the CSR project falls on the 19th June 2016, 10 children from each home (between aged 6 to 12) were selected to participate in the final workshops held at Damansara City. Children are divided into groups for team-building games and thumbprint art project. About 30 volunteers came together to help out in the final event and mainly consist of staffs from HLG companies and Hong Leong Foundation’s scholars. The children’s thumbprints, as well as those volunteers from various operating companies under Hong Leong Group, will be used to develop a series of original and abstract art pieces to be displayed around Damansara City. Venue & refreshment was provided by GLM. At the end of the final party, all children are presented with goodie bags as a souvenirs for them to bring home.
