Ramadhan Treat

Thirty residents from Rumah Seri Kenangan Johor Bahru were treated to a Ramadan break fast buffet at the hotel last August. Johor Bahru’s Member of Parliament, Dato Seri Utama Shahrir Bin Abdul Samad and wife, Datin Sharizan Abdullah were present at the event with Thistle and Guoman’s Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Hasnina Hafiz.

Expressing their thanks and support to the hotel’s commitment when it comes to sharing its good fortune with the underprivileged, Johor’s Director of Welfare, Khatijah Abdullah and the home’s principal, Faizah Noor Mohd Nandari, also attended the event. Thistle Johor Bahru’s Director of Rooms, Nick Ng was spotted in his full ‘Baju Melayu' (a type of traditional Malay outfit) do.

The old folks were treated to a variety of Ramadan goodies such as Bubur Lambuk, Nasi Briyani, BBQ Chicken, Roast Lamb, Murtabak, Sate, Laksa Johor and many more exciting dishes. They even enjoyed a feast of fresh durian and had 'Teh Tarik' (milk teawith bubbly froth) to wash down the King of Fruits! Expressing their appreciation to the hotel staff for the Ramadan treat, the residents conveyed how they enjoyed the food and the attention. Missing their loved ones during festive periods such as this, the residents happily shared their life stories. Enthusiastic and excited to celebrate Aidilfitri, many were seen humming and tapping their feet to the tunes played by the Ghazal band. Despite the challenges and uncertainty, their display of courage touched the hearts of the Thistle staff.

To end the day on a sweeter note, the ‘VIPs’ of the days received ‘Duit Raya' packets (gift money given out during Eid ul-Fitr) packets jointly given out by Dato Seri Utama Shahrir Samad and Hasnina Hafiz.
