The effects of the last few months are slowly taking a toll on our mental heath. Physical isolation, and constant COVID-19 news combined with uncertainty of the future, the World Economic Forum believes that anxiety is on the rise.
Countries worldwide have reported a rise in domestic abuse cases with Malaysia seeing a 57% or 1,893- call increase since the MCO was implemented.
As confinement increases the chances of abuse, women are living in constant threat, and it’s independent, non-profit organizations like All Women’s Action Society that are stepping in to offer support to the abused. Through their Telinita hotline, AWAM offers free counselling and legal advice for women facing domestic abuse through their, as well as provides training to advocate for domestic violence victims.
