The MCO may be showing a positive impact on slowing down the pandemic, however it comes at a huge cost to the country’s poor and homeless.

It is a situation that is all too familiar to local NGOs like Dapur Jalanan, a non-profit organization that has been serving as a soup kitchen for the urban poor since 2013 though this time around, instead of meals this time, Dapur Jalanan are also “dishing out” hygienic items to them.

The homeless are extremely vulnerable from exposure to diseases due to their environment and as such, funds collected have been used to purchase hand sanitizers, face masks, and protective gloves for 200 individuals to protect them when they are collecting food from one centre to the next.
