The nationwide pause due to the MCO has put normal life on a halt, cutting down on all non-essential services in efforts to slow down the COVID-19 pandemic, with many people affected not only from West Malaysia but also the East.

Those people in Sabah have been identified by PACOS Trust, the community-based organization that has been supporting indigenous communities in Sabah since 1987. From farmers who aren’t able to harvest and produce to those working in informal sectors, PACOS Trust found that these 2,024 individuals living in 161 villages across Sabah were affected by the MCO.

Their COVID-19 initiative, which Hong Leong Foundation is proud to be part of, is helping villagers through an allocation of RM140 worth of basic essential needs during this time.
