The act of cooking, especially when done for others, is one of the ways in which we express love and care. For the chefs of PichaEats, it is also an opportunity for them to start a new life.
Aiming to rebuild lives through food, PichaEats is a social enterprise that partners refugees in Malaysia to cook home cooked meals from their homelands to Malaysians. Their food is not just a vessel to teach others about their culture, but is a means of income for them too. To date, PichaEats has empowered more than 20 families from Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Pakistan.
This MCO, PichaEats revived their project, The Zaza Movement, to provide wholesome meals to frontliners and the B40 community. Initially created in memory of their first Syrian Picha chef Zaza, who died of cancer back in 2017, PichaEats is doing what they can to not only help those in need during this challenging time, but also to continue supporting the Picha Chefs through event food cancellations due to MCO
