HL Foundation organizes EQ Dialogue

While Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and technical skills are essential for success, Emotional Quotient (EQ) is what truly differentiates extraordinary individuals from mediocre ones. With that in mind, Hong Leong Foundation organized a session participated in by Hong Leong Foundation Scholars so they can hear first hand from corporate figures on EQ in the workplace. Ms Yvonne Chia, GMD of Hong Leong Bank willingly accepted the invitation to engage with the scholars.

Some of the EQ qualities discussed during the session include:

  1. Self-awareness - the ability to read one's emotions and recognize their impact while using gut feelings to guide decisions.
  2. Self-management - involves controlling one's emotions and impulses and adapting to changing circumstances.
  3. Social awareness - the ability to sense, understand, and react to other's emotions while comprehending social networks.
  4. Relationship management - the ability to inspire, influence, and develop others while managing conflict.

The session was made more memorable and entertaining when participants were asked to act out a short scene incorporating EQ elements in the storyline.
